Our Truckee River Festival

Tip of the Day ~ Buy an Anchor

This weekend is the Reno River Festival and in honor we hit it up. The wife and I met 'ol Chris "Driver" Thompson around 9:00 and put in at 10:00. The morning started off pretty nice with around 10 mph winds and temp around 45 degrees. The plan was to be off the river before the storm front hit, however, the fishing was decent and we were just plain enjoying the day.

Hilary landed a couple beauties and was extremely happy. She hasn't been out in many moons so she was as anxious as a one-eyed cat watching two rat holes. Chris also landed a few and the grin on his face never went away. Even with the water temps a little on the cold side there was some decent action on the river. Things slowed a little around 3:00 when it began to snow and became colder than a brass toilet seat in the Yukon.

Now on to my anchor situation! The 'ol F/V Hoof Arted has been on many rivers and my biggest issue is not having an anchor. The nice thing about not having an anchor is the work out. The benefit of anchors out weigh my need for exercise. It is quite exhausting rowing non-stop for hours on end to stay in good holes, going up and down good runs, not to mention landing fish can be tricky. I will be remedying this problem very soon.
